The Biggest Box-Office Bombs of the Summer (So Far)

The blockbusters that failed to bank a profit.

'Turbo'

The animated film "Turbo" opened over the weekend as well, finishing third at the box-office with reported earnings of just over $21 million. Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti and Snoop Lion were just a few of the actors who provided their voices for the flick, which reportedly cost around $135 million to produce. To date, the movie has earned a weaker-than-expected $34 million in the United States.

'The Lone Ranger'

On its opening weekend in early July, Disney's "The Lone Ranger" pulled in a little over $29 million in U.S. theaters. Unfortunately, the Johnny Depp/Armie Hammer movie cost an estimated $215 million. To date, it's earned back just under $82 million domestically.

'White House Down'

Despite a budget of $150 million,"White House Down" only managed to rake in about $25 million on its opening weekend in late June. To date, the Jamie Foxx/Channing Tatum film has earned almost $69 million back domestically.

'After Earth'

M. Night Shyamalan teamed up with Will and Jaden Smith for "After Earth," a sci-fi/drama film based on an idea by the elder of the Smiths. Audiences didn't respond to the $130-million movie, and on its opening weekend in late May/early June, it earned only $27.5 million. Currently, it's domestic take is around $60 million (although it's doing much better internationally.)

'The Internship'

The Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn comedy "The Internship" hit theaters on June 7, earning just $17 million of its $58 million production budget. As of now, it's earned back about $43 million domestically.
