Baseball caps, Action Figures and Other Small Toys

While washing machines bend basbeball caps out of shape, dishwashers keep them true to form. Make sure you don't wash with food or it'll get trapped inside the lining.

Action Figures and other small toys can be put in dishwashers as long as they are secured to the top row in mesh bags.

Rain boots, Tools, Ceramic Cabinet Knobs

As long as your remove the liner and place them horizontally, rain boots are dishwasher approved. Unfortunately, you're going to have to leave your crocs out of this one.

Whether they have plastic or metal handles, as long as you dry them off to prevent rusting, tools can be safely cleaned in dishwashers.

Cermanic knobs are best washed in the silverware basket so prepare yourself to commit to the process of removing, cleaning, and replacing for a complete rinsing.

Hairbrushes, Vent Covers, Athletic Accessories

While it is essential to keep wooden brushes out of the dishwasher, plastic brushes and combs are perfectly safe. Warning, remove all hairballs before or they'll end up clogging your drain.

Vent covers, along with switch plates and fan grilles, are approved for dishwasher as long as they are aluminum, plastic or steel. Painted, enameled, or plated items should remain out.

As long as they are secured on the top rack, shin guards, mouth guards, and knee pads are all dishwasher friendly.

Garden Tools, Light-Fixture Covers, Potatoes

Although garden tools are dishwasher appropriate, it is best to wash them without dishes in case they have come in contact with pesticides, dirt, or animal droppings.

While antiques, painted, and enameled fixtures should be avoided, all others can be safely cleaned on the top rack.

Need a faster way to make a large batch of mashed potatoes? Rinse them on the top rack with no detergent and they are ready to go.
