Taylor Swift Joins Mick Jagger on Stage at Chicago Concert

When it comes to pairings we never thought we'd see, Taylor Swift and Mick Jagger rank somewhere near the top of the list.

But last night in Chicago, it happened. During the Rolling Stones concert at the United Center, the band was barely a few bars into "As Tears Go By" when Swift appeared alongside Jagger to lend her voice. It probably took some fans by surprise, but it wasn't exactly a secret seeing as Jagger tweeted about it earlier in the day:

Before & After: One-Weekend Bathroom Refresh

With the warm season starting, I’ve become obsessed with all things white.

So I’ve returned to my rental white walls in the bathroom, which feels so fresh and clean for summer.

I used the same color on the baseboard and moldings so I didn’t need to worry about that clean line of paint as the color changes (the most frustrating part of a painting job to a self-proclaimed lazy perfectionist).

Berries

Berries can help curb cravings for dessert, all while keeping you full during the day. Derocha, calls them “nature’s version of fast foods,”  and likes them because they can easily add a hint of sweetness to your dishes and can also be incorporated in smoothies or salads. “Fresh berries are high in vitamins and minerals, and although they do contain sugar, their high fiber slows digestion and makes them a reliable source of energy.” Choose fresh, ripe berries over canned fruit, as they’re can often be loaded with sugary syrup.

Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are a must-have, especially when it comes to whittling the waistline, says founder of Tonique FitnessSylwia Wiesenberg. “Chia seeds are a superfood that will help you lose fat around your midsection,” she explains. “It energizes your body with its rich source of protein. It also keeps you feeling full longer, allowing you to become more regular. This means you won’t store extra food in your system, causing you to feel bloated and look heavier.” Wiesenberg advises adding chia seeds to your oatmeal, salads or smoothies.

Hot Peppers

Health coach Dr. Lori Shemek recommends adding peppers to your meal. “Consuming hot peppers in just one single spicy meal or 30 minutes before a meal can boost your metabolism by up to 25 percent, with the spike in calorie burning lasting for up to 3 hours after you finish eating, along with feeling less hungry,” says Shemek.

(Thinkstock)
Kale

Kale has become a popular ingredient in many dishes, and with all it's health benefits, it's not hard to see why. Kale is "a rich source of vital vitamin K, which is anti-inflammatory and helps you stay less bloated,” says Wiesenberg.

Lentils

Unlike other legumes, lentils cook faster, which saves you time in whipping up a satisfying meal. “Legumes, like lentils, are rich in fiber and protein and lower in fat,” says Derocha. “They make a great side dish or a delicious main entrée for a vegetarian meal.”

(Thinkstock)
Quinoa

“Whole grains, like quinoa, are a great addition to meals with chicken, fish or vegetables,” says Derocha. “It can make any dish heartier without adding too many calories.”

(Thinkstock)
Eggs

Nourishing protein is essential because muscles burn fat, including that dreaded belly pooch. But how much do you need? Carol Cottrill, author of “The French Twist: Twelve Secrets of Decadent Dining and Natural Weight Management,” says to multiply your current weight by 0.4. “If you’re 150 pounds, that’s 60 grams of protein per day,” she explains. While protein could be found in salmon and peanut butter, Cottrill likes to kick off her day with two scrambled eggs for breakfast. “You’ll consume 14 grams from that alone,” she says.

(Thinkstock)
Spicy Mustard

Toss aside the plain yellow mustard. “Research from England’s Oxford Polytechnic Institute says eating just one teaspoon of brown or spicy hot mustard can boost the metabolism 20 to 25 percent for several hours after eating,” explains Shemek. Just one teaspoon can help speed up your metabolic rate.

(Thinkstock)
Watermelon

Watermelon can be especially helpful to shed water weight before and during PMS, says Wiesenberg, who also credits it for helping her feel slimmer. “Watermelons are a natural diuretic that’s rich in minerals and vitamins,” she says. “They’re perfect to snack on or as an addition to your smoothie."

(Thinkstock)
Yogurt

Loreck says she highly advises women to eat yogurt as a snack alternative to slim down belly fat. “Yogurt contains probiotics, which boost the beneficial bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract,” she explains. However, she advises to skip the flavored versions as they tend to have a lot of sugar. Instead, look for plain, protein-rich Greek yogurt, which you can jazz up with fresh fruit, a touch of honey, or chia seeds.

Hats Off to the Topknot

How to Get the Look

All you need to get the perfect topknot is an elastic hair tie, a soft boar bristle brush and fine hair pins, says Mark Williamson, international master stylist at Femme Coiffure Hair Spa.

“First, tie the hair in a ponytail on top of the crown area, depending on preference, ensuring it’s not pulled too tight,” he explains. “Take your brush and lightly back brush the hair in downward strokes, creating some texture. Take the end of the ponytail and start to wrap it around the base until you see a mushroom-like shape forming at the top. Take the hairpins and start to loosely pin the top around the base about two inches away from the elastic. Continue to work around the entire ponytail base.”

Finish the look with a light holding spray to control flyaways and frizz.

How to Wear a Topknot

The topknot works for any occasion, especially during the hot summer months, says New York City-based stylist Angelo David. “A laid back outfit needs a killer top knot,” he says.

To give your hair a casual, undone flair, David recommends adding a volumizing spray, like his Angelo David Premier Volume Spray, to the roots before blow drying your hair smooth.

“Make it appear as if you were in a hurry doing the look and you are ready to rock ‘n’ roll,” he says.

(Reuters)
Know Your Audience

The way you style your topknot depends on where you're going.  If you’re heading outdoors, release a few pieces of loose hair to give it a messy, casual look. However, if you’re heading to work, a sleek ‘do will be more appropriate. And as for night, make sure your makeup is perfectly polished.

(Reuters)
Use Minimal Tools

Forget the usual wash and blowout. With a topknot, you can skip the heat products and get a quick tousled look with just a handful of tools. “To get the best topknot look use a dry shampoo,” says celebrity hairstylist Pasquale Caselle for IT&LY HAIRFASHION. “Unwashed hair works best to give it a bit of volume. Make sure to do your bun right at the crown so it doesn’t look droopy. Criss-cross your bobby pins to lock your hair in place. This will also keep your top knot from coming loose.”

(Reuters)
Play Dress Up

For a night out on the town, dress up your topknot with crystal brooches or jeweled pins. For a runway-ready look, stylists suggest braiding the hair before tying it into a bun on top of your head.

(Associated Press)
Make it a Summer Staple

Hollywood-based stylist Janine Jarman notes that topknots are sizzling hot this summer because it perfectly pairs with the ‘90s inspired floral looks and geometric prints that are also on trend this fashion season. However, the concept isn’t a new one. “We always start to see the bun in some form emerging as soon as it heats up,” she explains.

(Associated Press)
Get Chic

The ballerina bun, the topknot’s equally chic cousin, is a look stylists highly recommend if want to give any outfit a touch of glamour. To achieve this hairstyle, swirl your hair around the back of the head before pinning. Make sure to use a volumizing spray prior to give your hair extra oomph. The ballerina bun is especially useful for ladies with beachy hair waves, as you won't need to use excess hair products to get the right amount of height needed.

(Reuters)
Use Your Imagination

“This variation on the traditional bun allows for more personalization and therefore knowing that you will never have hair that looks identical to the woman sitting next to you,” says Los Angeles-based stylist Julia Papworth.   “Also, most topknots can be done in around five minutes, and depending on whether you like it clean or messy, it can be worn for any occasion.

(Associated Press)
Try Curls

No matter what type of hair you have, stylists agree that the topknot works for everyone. Take a cue from actress AnnaLynne McCord, who opted to show off her curls with her topknot.

(Reuters)
Keep it Fresh

To refresh your topknot after a long day, stylists suggest misting dry shampoo at the roots, which will remove excess moisture. Finish the look by adding pins that matches the color of your hair wherever needed to tidy up any loose strands.

The Best Swimsuit for YOUR Body

We asked two stylists on how to enhance your look.

(Zimmermann/Marc Jacobs)
Athletic Figure

If you’re long and lean, but want to add curves, look for a swimsuit that showcases a current couture trend. “Peplums are not only super popular for clothing, but swim as well,” explains Chelsey Davidson of ModCloth.com. “This flirty style will help to add some volume to your lower half, making your waist look smaller, all while also adding a feminine touch.”

(ModCloth.com)
Hourglass Figure

Consider a halter, bra-style or bustier top, which provides support for bigger-busted gals. Davidson also recommends channeling your inner Hollywood bombshell with a vintage-style suit, which were designed specifically to flaunt curves. If you do want to minimize your shape, pick a darker hue. “The eye is drawn to bright colors, so the key is to wear black in an area you want to camouflage,” explains stylist Illysia Neumann-Loreck. “For example, a swimsuit that’s black on the bottom and has a pattern on top is a great option. It draws attention to the upper half of your body.”

(ModCloth.com)
Pear-Shaped Figure

Most women fit in this category, which means you are little larger on the bottom than you are on top. “A halter top will accentuate your shoulders while balancing out your top and bottom half,” says Davidson.

(GUESS)
Petite

Under 5’4”? You’re in luck because shorter ladies have plenty of options to reach new heights. “A monokini is a great choice if you are slightly shorter,” says Davidson. “It will help to give the illusion of height and add curves. Also, a higher cut bottom will make your legs look exceptionally long.” If you don’t feel like wearing a one piece, go for the classic bikini.

(A Pea in the Pod)
Pregnant

Flaunt your baby bump with pride this beach season! Whether you’re three months along or in your third trimester, there are several brands currently on the market specifically for moms-to-be. As long as there is enough elasticity, either a one piece or two-piece should should provide support for your growing shape. For some designer suggestions, consider A Pea In The Pod, Destination Maternity or Motherhood Maternity. Major retailers, such as the Gap and Old Navy also have affordable options.

(Lands' End)
Plus Size

"A swim dress is perfect for heavier women,” says Loreck. “It skims the body and doesn’t cling as a normal swimsuit does, but it doesn’t have extra fabric that would add bulk.” For a slimming effect, Loreck says to choose a dark hue over a lighter one. Also, make sure there is enough ruching on the fabric to camouflage the areas of your body you’re not completely comfortable showing off. “Be sure to look for underwire in the bust for good support as well,” she says.

(Kenneth Cole/Carmen Marc Valvo)
Over 40

Once you’ve hit the big 4-0, a bathing suit with some coverage will be beneficial for your body, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t look and feel your very best. “A one-shoulder swimsuit is very chic and offers great coverage,” says Loreck. “And if your stomach isn’t as flat as it used to be, ruching, or horizontal gathers, can hide a pooch.”

(Magicsuit/Miraclesuit)
Tummy Control

You may not have a supermodel's stomach, but a little extra tummy shouldn't stop you from flaunting your figure. Like with anyone with extra curves, ruching will hide a pooch. Loreck also says to look for a swimsuit featuring extra spandex to push everything in comfortably, much like shapewear. In terms of two-pieces, a retro-style high-waisted bikini is also on-trend and great for camouflaging. There’s also the tankini, which incorporates a figure-flattering tank top. “The tank top skims the tummy instead of clinging to it (in comparison to a standard bikini top),” says Loreck. “Depending on how comfortable you are with your hips and thighs, you can wear it with a bikini bottom or a skirt.”
